Coach Bio
Coach Ivan Tenorio-Leyva’s passion for soccer began at the age of 12, when he started playing competitively with Hope Academy of West Michigan. What began as a love for the game quickly developed into a lifelong commitment, as he went on to compete with well-known youth clubs including Michigan Futbol Academy (MFA) and Alliance Academy FC. These early experiences helped shape his technical foundation and deep understanding of the game.
During his collegiate and senior playing years, Coach Tenorio continued to elevate his career. In 2019, he competed with Grace Christian University, contributing to an outstanding season that saw the team finish with a 16–5 record and a 4th place finish in NCCAA Division II national competition. He later gained international and semi-professional experience in Mexico, playing for Industriales de Moroleón (2020–2022) and Furia Verde FC (2022), further expanding his competitive perspective.
Returning to the United States, Tenorio played with United West FC (UPSL) and Rapid City FC (MISL) during the 2022–2023 seasons in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He also returned to Grace Christian University in 2023, where the team finished with a 7–8–5 record and again secured a 4th place finish in NCCAA Division II national competition. His playing career has continued to grow internationally, joining CD Guadiaro in 2026, competing in Spain’s regional football system, while also representing Muskegon Risers (MASL) and Grand Rapids SC (MWPL and UPSL), where he remains an active player.
Alongside his playing career, Coach Tenorio has built a strong foundation in coaching. Since 2022, he has coached with Michigan Futbol Academy (now AC Grand Rapids), helping develop young players and instill a passion for the game. He holds a U.S. Soccer Grassroots License and is committed to fostering growth, discipline, and confidence in every athlete he works with.
